Audition Notice!! “Some Enchanted Evening” Musical Review – Feb. 3rd & 4th

The Theater League of Clifton will hold auditions for “Some Enchanted Evening—The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein”

Friday, Feb. 3, 7-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 4, 2-5 p.m.
at Grace Church, 45 Hazel St., Clifton 

The casting call is for three women and two men.

The female parts include:

  • Julie, a “big soprano” with a soft sexiness and playfulness that is endearing, but beneath it all is a spunky woman. (B flat to A flat)
  • Anna is an attractive woman who could play Lady Thiang or Aunt Eller. She has a quality of mystery and sensuousness, but must be able to play both the regal and the silly. (A flat to E)
  • Nellie is a strong and up-front young performer who might play Ado Annie. She has a big, voice and could sing rock and roll, but now finds herself doing the Rodgers and Hammerstein classics. (G to C or D (high belt))

The male parts include:

  • Billy is tall, sexy and could play Jud or Billy Bigelow. He’s a “leading man” type who must sing well and have great personality. This guy dazzles women with his charm, along with a sense of humor and a command of music. (A flat to E)
  • Will is a “song and dance” man who could play Will Parker, but also could be right for Lt. Cable. He’s a friendly performer who must be able to play comedy as well as tender moments.(C to F sharp)

For this production, the theater league is seeking performers with “legit” musical theater voices who move well on stage. Those planning to attend the auditionsare asked to prepare a song in the style of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Bring sheet music in your key or an instrumental tract on a thumb drive. An accompanist will be provided, Dress to move. Be prepared to provide all rehearsal conflicts, bring a theater resume and headshot. Performances will be held May 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14
at the Aprea Theater, 199 Scoles Ave, Clifton.

Teressa Kallay is the director and choreographer for the production and Jalmari Vanamo serves as the musical director. The show is being produced by Elizabeth Eisenmenger. Tara Freifeld is the stage manager.

SOME ENCHANTED EVENING® is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and concept by Jeffrey B. Moss.
